This is My Story

I love music. But to me, music is definitely not just about sound, but about content. My tried and true fave artists and bands are Sovereign Grace Music, Keith and Kristyn Getty, Fernando Ortega, and Caedmon's Call. A friend recently introduced me to Seeds Family Worship by giving me the Seeds of Courage CD. It is amazing. Why? They have put scripture to music. No changes, no additions, no fancy rewrites. Simple scripture. In my head. It's lovely, and it's geared toward children and I'm very happy that Seeds found me at the beginning of my mothering/parenting journey so I can utilize it for myself and for my kid(s). But that's not really what this post is about. I generally like traditional hymns set to modern music and the more popish Christian music I just kind of tune out.

But I surprised myself and completely identified with a Britt Nicole song. Talk about pop Christian. It's called All This Timeand in an interview she explained the song is basically her testimony of becoming a believer in Christ. God used the time surrounding her parents' divorce to draw her to Himself. Why did I fall for this song? Well, it is my story, too. Her lyrics are my thoughts. God used the terrible trial of my parents' divorce to call me to Himself once and for all. And instead of breaking me, that trial strengthened my infant faith in Christ that had only just begun. Praise the LORD!

House Hunting

We are currently scouring the internet for pictures, contacts, and information on houses or townhouses to rent in MD. I have realized after a few minutes days that house hunting over the internet is just not my thing. But, you gotta have somewhere to live, right? So we're pressing on. Cost of living is very high, and there just aren't many house rentals available at all in the neighborhood we're looking to live in, let alone ones that fall within our price range.

Amenities are highly negotiable, but things on my wish list are:
  • a bigger kitchen than we use now (e.g., more than 2 drawers would be nice)
  • parking right outside our door (How do you carry baby on one hip and groceries/diaper bag/keys/sonic drink when you have a 30+ yard walk from door to door? I don't know, but I sure don't want to keep trying to figure out how.)
  • 3 bedrooms (I underestimated how much I would miss a guest room this year)
  • no carpet in the dining room (baby learning to eat solids = mess)
  • yard for the babe to play in once he starts toddling
  • house > townhouse > apartment
I know that God is clearly leading us to move to Maryland, so I know He has also provided us with somewhere to live. It's only a matter of days until Providence leads us there. Enough blogging, I should get back on the hunt.

Here's the house we rented in OK for a few years before we made the switch to apartment living.

New Ventures Ahead

Hello Blog World,
I step into the blogging world with caution. I'm a wife of 3 years to my husband, a mother to a 9 month old, and we are getting ready to make a cross country move to MARYLAND in about 5 weeks. Born and raised Okies, my husband and I are venturing out into the big wide world on our own, so I figured it was a good a time as any to venture out into the uncharted sea of being An Official Blogger. And, well, it's also a great way to keep the family updated as we start this new journey. Stay tuned, it's bound to be an interesting ride!
